  • How To Write A Good High School Essay Without Trouble

You don’t need to be a professional in order to write a good high school paper. With a lot of practice and some basic skills, any high school student can come up with a proper paper. The most common type of essay in high school is a five paragraph paper. It sets the foundation for other more advanced levels of writing and research. Mastering the basic format of this type of paper will help to ensure that you always write exceptional papers.

    Basic structure

The paper usually begins with an introductory paragraph. The introductory paragraph should always be based on a purpose or thesis statement that defines the question or problem that will be addressed in the paper. The first paragraph should provide a hint to the conclusion without delving too much into the topic.

The next paragraphs form the body of the paper. Usually, they should be three paragraphs, with each paragraph describing a specific position with respect to the topic. The three points should be discussed in order of their relative importance. Each paragraph is supposed to start by stating a fact, followed by facts that support your point, and conclude by summarizing your position with regard to the point.

Finally, the last paragraph should present a summary of the main points in the essay while drawing on the conclusions in the body paragraphs. You should also restate the question or problem that was presented in the introduction and reiterate your conclusions with respect to the facts in the discussion.

    Getting Started

The first step in writing a good five paragraph essay is to establish your thesis statement. This is a statement that presents your position with regard to the topic of the paper. It is usually the opening sentence in the introduction. Before you start writing, it is advisable to prepare an outline that will act as a guide to how you will organize your work. The outline will summarize your thesis statement, highlight the points to be discussed in the body paragraphs, as well as summarize the conclusions you made from the facts in the body paragraph.

    Writing the Essay

Once you have an outline and the purpose or thesis statement, you can begin writing the paper. The paragraphs in your paper should have at least three sentences. However, you can have as much as five to six sentences. At this point you have a draft.

    Editing, Evaluating and Revising

Once you have written your first draft, you need to start proofreading the draft. As you proof read your draft, take note of any points or sentences that might be rephrased in a better way or placed in a different section of the paragraph. Additionally, check for grammatical and spelling errors and correct them accordingly. You can also ask someone else to go through your final draft in order to see if the ideas you discussed are clear or if there are any mistakes that you failed to notice.
